When you open a door, do you touch a doorknob? Most people do, but if you have a horizontal handle, it is called a lever. Not only are they different names and phrased and of course their physical layouts are different, but the way the locks interact with the handles is also completely different.
Most doors will have a lock above where the doorknob is because the lock will shoot the door and that will be its area. But for lever locks, they are part of the plate that the handle is with. These are the easiest locks in the world to break because you have much more force pushing down with your hands than you do twisting. Because of this, it is the most commonly requested repairs that we receive.
